College Place school volunteers launch scholarship fund, seek 100 donors

Gail C. and Corey Davis told the College Place City Council on Nov. 12 that they established a scholarship fund for College Place students and are administering it through the Blue Mountain Community Foundation.
The effort began in late 2024, they said, and two scholarships were awarded in May 2025. The committee has been fundraising at school events and reported 48 donations so far. Their stated goal is to secure 100 donors at $100 each by December to reach a $10,000 fundraising target for the scholarship endowment.
"We're hoping for a 100 people to donate a $100 before December," Gail C. said. They left flyers and a QR code that links to the Blue Mountain Community Foundation donation page. Council members offered to publish the QR code and a blurb in the city newsletter and on social media to help reach the goal.
No formal city funding or action was requested; the presenters asked only for publicity and community connections. The council encouraged them to forward materials to Clerk Garcia for distribution.
