The South Russell Village Planning Commission approved a sign replacement for Snap Fitness at 524 East Washington after a presentation from John Benedict of Brilliant Electric Sign Company Limited.

Benedict explained the project replaces the existing illuminated sign with an updated, internally lit sign that reflects new corporate branding; he said the replacement is similar in size and will use existing mounting points and raceways, with paint and power-supply updates as needed. Commissioners asked whether the size and mounting fell within existing parameters; Benedict said the sign is intended to meet the same dimensional and code standards as the existing installation.

A motion to approve the application was made and seconded; commissioners voted in favor and recorded no objections. The commission noted the applicant will use the existing raceway and updated raceways will be painted to match the sign.

The application will be final pending any required building or electrical permits handled by the village building department.
