Foster council sets liquor fees and renews multiple licenses pending approvals

At its Nov. 13 meeting the Foster Town Council established annual fees for liquor and entertainment licenses and approved renewals for multiple existing businesses, pending receipt of required certificates of good standing and departmental sign-offs.
Under the motion approved by the council: Class A (package store) annual fees were set at $500; Class B (victualers) at $500; Class D (unlimited) at $800; annual extra‑hour/closing fee at $200; entertainment license at $300; holiday sales at $100. The council also granted permission (except for Class A package stores) for holders of such licenses to hold dances at their licensed premises and limited transfers of granted licenses by requiring council approval for transfers at the same location.
The clerk read a long public notice listing applicants for renewal, including Healy’s Liquors Inc. (d/b/a Healy’s Liquor Store), The Watering Hole LLC, Helen’s Place Inc., Lucky’s Pizza, Taikamak Enterprises LLC (Foster Golf and Country Club), Woodland Meeting House LLC, Shady Acres Fry Shack LLC and Little Roadie Vassa Park Inc. Councilors discussed Woodland Meeting House retaining a license while reportedly closed; staff said the holder continues to meet criteria and pay the fee.
Councilors moved and seconded the motions to adopt the fee schedule and to grant renewals (subject to the town’s standard requirement of certificates of good standing from the Division of Taxation and approvals by the police chief, tax collector, building inspector, fire chief and Department of Health, and server‑training certification). The motions were approved by voice vote and the public hearings were closed.
What’s next: Renewals are granted pending submission of required documentation; the town clerk will not accept new applications for additional licenses without council approval during the current term. The council fixed license counts for the term (Class A:2, Class B:5, Class D:1).
