Commission closes Millbrook case and delays Melborough closure while compliance items finish

For 1440 Melborough Circle, staff reported visible improvement: washing machines removed and vehicles present with paperwork for release; remaining items were mostly personal tools and yard clutter rather than immediate safety hazards. Commission discussion concluded the property was “as good as it's gonna get,” and commissioners accepted staff’s recommendation to keep the file open if new violations recur.
At 201 East Street, a property representative and staff described completed work on fire alarms and sprinklers: replaced sprinklers, painted and secured riser doors, installed a missing hydrant component and addressed smoke alarms. Staff recommended holding the item open for one more month so they could recheck a short list of outstanding items — dryer‑vent screens, missing locking caps on some AC units, trimming around hydrants, and possible storage under stairs that could block egress.
A motion was made to move the 201 East Street case to the Dec. 10 meeting for final closure pending staff reinspection; commissioners approved moving the item to December. Staff said they will re‑inspect with Brian (staff) and will not necessarily require a property representative to attend if the items are completed on site.
The commission also fielded a correspondence item asking for an update on pest control work at Myra Avenue; staff said they would follow up.
