State sheriffs' association honors Seneca County for jail and court security reaccreditation

Peter Keogh, executive director of the New York State Sheriffs' Association, told the Seneca County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 13 that the Seneca County Sheriff's Office has achieved reaccreditation in its jail and court security divisions. Keogh said only 36 of the state's 62 counties have accreditation for the jail division and only 11 counties have achieved court security accreditation.
Keogh praised Sheriff Tim Thompson, Undersheriff Marquardt and members of the corrections and court security teams for meeting stringent standards and best practices. He listed several staff members by name — including Sergeant Dan Dressing, Lieutenant Joshua Kurtz, Captain Don Borland, Sergeant Luke Leskowsky and Deputies James Pischey and Pascilacqua — and presented plaques recognizing the accomplishment.
Sheriff Tim Thompson thanked the board and the Sheriffs' Association for their support and credited staff for their work on the reaccreditation process.
This recognition reflects external assessors' findings that the jail and court security divisions meet the standards used by the accrediting bodies.
