City Manager (speaker 12) used the Nov. 13 council meeting to announce several seasonal community programs. The city’s winter/spring activity guide will be posted online on Nov. 20 and registration opens Dec. 1 for residents and Dec. 5 for non‑residents. The annual Civic Center Plaza holiday tree lighting is scheduled for Dec. 5, with family activities and an official lighting at 7 p.m., and Small Business Saturday will be held Nov. 29 at Civic Center Plaza with coupons, giveaways and merchant participation.
The manager also thanked the Newark Chamber of Commerce (and Chamber CEO Steven Cassidy) for partnership on Small Business Saturday and encouraged residents to review the website for details. Volunteers and community groups were encouraged to participate in upcoming food drives and service projects noted by council members.
The announcements are informational; no council action was required.
