Student representative Isabella Palermo delivered the board’s monthly student report on Oct. activities across parish schools, highlighting athletics seasons, FFA competitions, band and marching contest placements, robotics and STEM achievements, and charitable work such as a donation of 180 cookies by FACS students.
Palermo listed student-of-the-month winners and construction updates at several campuses. The report emphasized hands-on learning opportunities and district participation in regional and state contests.
Later in the meeting, Harry, principal of the district alternative program (BAP), announced that a state evaluation conducted Oct. 7 by Terron Perry, education consultant with the Louisiana Department of Education’s Office of Career and College Readiness, awarded BAP “exemplary status” for alternative education sites. "BAP has been awarded exemplary status for alternative education sites," Harry said, and thanked staff and district leaders for their support.
Board members applauded the school recognitions. The meeting included no formal action tied to the student report or the BAP recognition beyond the public acknowledgment.
