Superintendent reports open enrollment, previews Thursday agenda and flags minor facilities work

The superintendent previewed Thursday’s board agenda items: a fuel purchase, a Medicare-related contract for a special-education student, a gymnastics program certificate and several donations that will be presented to the board. No formal action on these items occurred during the committee meeting; staff said the listed items will appear on the board agenda for consideration.
Committee members and staff briefly discussed a heating-system item: swapping the heat-exchanger work between contractors (described in the meeting as ‘‘GEM and Robert’’) and performing boiler work at Parkside River. Staff said the vendor change will not materially raise costs but may increase the expenditure "slightly." The committee chair agreed, saying "Slightly. Just slightly."
Staff also said the board will limit special reports at the upcoming meeting because it will start at 7:00 p.m., and they plan to include photos of a school play in the presentation.
No motions or votes related to the agenda items or the facilities work were recorded in the committee’s transcript; staff said any contractual or budgetary actions will be handled at the full board meeting.
