Cannon County Board of Education approves resolutions, policy updates, bids and GPS contract

The Cannon County Board of Education on Nov. 13 unanimously approved a slate of routine resolutions and policy changes, authorized procurement actions for buses and campus safety work, and approved a contract to install GPS tracking devices on four district vehicles.
The board reapproved Resolution BOE 25‑26 No. 4 and then approved Resolutions BOE 25‑26 Nos. 5–8 after those items were reviewed at a workshop earlier in the week. Board members also accepted TSBA-recommended changes from the district’s annual audit to policy 4.21 (credit recovery), 4.605 (graduation requirements) and 6.5 (special education) and approved the set of instructional-program policies numbered 4.1 through 4.805.
The consent agenda included approval of minutes from the Oct. 9, 2025 regular meeting and authorization of overnight/out-of-state Trip No. 4983 for Cannon County High School students to attend a sports and entertainment marketing conference in Orlando, Florida.
On facilities and transportation, the board approved the sale of the Reading Safari bus and authorized staff to solicit bids for two new school buses for the 2026–27 school year. Trustees also approved permission to solicit bids for safety doors at Cannon County Elementary School and Cannon County Middle School after staff reported the expected cost exceeded the $25,000 quote threshold.
The board adopted a director-evaluation rubric that had been reviewed at a board retreat and suggested through the TSBA process.
On a separate contract item, the board approved a contract with Verizon to install GPS trackers on two driver's-education cars and two CTE Suburbans. In the meeting the cost for the service was stated as "$23.50 a year." The district did not provide contract documentation or additional details in the meeting packet; the figure was reported on the record and is included here as stated at the meeting.
