Council honors Officer Ryan Hall for rescuing resident from structure fire

The Village of Saint Charles council recognized Officer Ryan Hall for entering a burning structure on Nov. 2 and rescuing a trapped, handicapped resident.
According to the tribute prepared by staff, Tri Township firefighters responded to the structure fire and ‘‘Officer Hall’’ was first on the scene. The tribute recounts that Hall entered the burning building, located the resident and carried the person to safety, then began administering first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. Staff said the victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Council members praised Hall’s “selfless bravery” and noted that regional media outlets contacted him but he declined interviews, telling those outlets he was "just doing my job," according to staff. Staff also said a lifesaving award will be given to Hall.
What’s next: Council intended to present a lifesaving award at a future meeting and extended formal thanks to mutual-aid partners involved in the response.
