Miss Jones, principal at Nicholas Homestead, reported that Nicholas rose above the cut point (reported as 25.89) and exited targeted school improvement after years of work focused on students with disabilities, attendance and school climate. Jones emphasized data-driven professional learning communities and targeted interventions to support subgroup growth.
Board members praised staff efforts and acknowledged ongoing challenges — including turnover and students experiencing homelessness — while thanking teachers and administrators for building relationships and strengthening instructional practices. Both principals described continued reliance on a final year of grant support and plans to sustain improvements when those funds end.
The board received the reports and offered thanks; no formal board action was required at this meeting.
