Logansport’s Preservation Commission moved forward on planning its Hometown History Holiday Stroll for 2025 during its Nov. 13 meeting.
Commission members agreed to replicate last year’s one-night format rather than expand into multiple nights. Speaker 3 urged a compact plan: “I think we could just do it one night instead of two,” and several members volunteered to recruit and staff individual locations.
Proposed sites named during the meeting include Trinity Episcopal Church, the Memorial Home, the Long Home, the city carousel and the State Theater. Members volunteered to serve as hosts or to recruit volunteers at specific stops and agreed they would confirm site participation with Judy, the event coordinator, before any public announcement.
For promotion the commission will work with the Logansport Reimagine platform and Michelle Dials, who offered to design flyers and post event information while the city’s primary website is being rebuilt. Michelle asked commissioners to provide copy and site details after Thanksgiving so she can push flyers and social posts through the Reimagine account; commissioners agreed to deliver approvals and site confirmations to Judy promptly.
Logistics discussed included staffing each location with volunteers, offering refreshments beyond water, and repeating a prize/drawing element used last year. Members discussed candidate dates (Dec. 6, Dec. 11, Dec. 12, Dec. 13) and said they preferred a mid-December evening (Thursday, Dec. 11 was discussed as a strong option) but deferred final scheduling until host approvals were secured.
Next steps: commissioners will (1) each contact assigned sites and report confirmations to Judy, (2) send event copy and location details to Michelle for flyers, and (3) confirm a final date and promotional timeline after Thanksgiving.
