Students present artwork at school committee meeting, students and teachers praise program

Freetown-Lakeville — At the Nov. 12 Freetown-Lakeville Regional School Committee meeting, intermediate school art teacher Mrs. Bosano and seven students presented artwork and described how art supports students’ motivation and engagement.
Mrs. Bosano, who has taught at the intermediate level for nearly 18 years, told the committee that for many students the art class is the highlight of the day and contributes to problem solving, fine-motor skills, emotional intelligence and school engagement. Several students — including Jordan Gallagher, Claire Daugherty and others — briefly described why they like art and how the classroom provides creative, calming spaces they cannot replicate at home.
Student representative Molly McCarthy reported recent student activities including the end of the unified basketball season and upcoming winter sports and DECA events. Committee members thanked the students and teacher for their presentation and invited them to leave after a group photograph.
No committee action was required; members said the presentation reinforced support for specials in the curriculum.
