The Town of Hubbardston Senior Center (Friends group) confirmed its holiday calendar and volunteers for public events during the December season. Chair (S1) announced a concert on Dec. 2 at 2:00 p.m., with singers expected to use about 30 chairs, and a Christmas fair on Dec. 6 with roughly 15 vendors and basket raffles. "It's at 02:00 on December 2," Chair (S1) said when timing was discussed.
The group debated where to place the nativity and took a formal vote: five members favored placing the nativity on the center's new deck and two preferred the church location. "Vote was taken. Result 5 votes on the deck, 2 votes at the church. Motion made to have the nativity stable on the deck. Motion passed," Secretary (S2) reported.
Volunteers were assigned for set-up, lights and securing the tree and manger; members discussed a plan to install lights on the Sunday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving and to use Jim's truck for heavy lifting. The senior center also arranged sign-ups for pies and volunteers for the town Thanksgiving dinner, with a guest limit discussed at 48 attendees for the volunteer dinner.
What happens next: volunteers will install lights and set up the nativity per the vote; the group will finalize seating and publicity (flyers) for the concert and distribute vendor and volunteer assignments before the fair.
