Passaic council adopts parking and bus-stop ordinances, clears routine agenda items

The Passaic City Council on Nov. 6 voted to adopt two traffic-related ordinances and approved routine agenda business.
The council unanimously adopted proposed ordinance 25-02-25 to amend the designation of restricted parking for disabled persons by New Jersey license plate number. During the required public hearing a resident asked how enforcement and annual reaffirmation are handled; the administration explained the parking designation follows state Motor Vehicles issuance and that the city’s engineering and police staff verify signage and may remove a restricted designation if it is not properly used.
The council also adopted proposed ordinance 25-03-25 to add a bus stop on Lexington Avenue; no members of the public spoke on that item. Both ordnances passed by roll-call vote.
Separately, the council approved communications items 3–15 and later accepted items 18–36 by roll call. The council introduced proposed ordinance 37 (adding clergy parking permits to the city code) for first reading and scheduled its second reading and final action for Dec. 2, 2025.
The minutes of the May 6, 2025 meeting were approved earlier in the evening, payment of bills was authorized, and the meeting adjourned after council remarks.
