Ironton — During audience participation at the Nov. 13 Ironton City Council meeting, a resident representing 1606 Karen Street told the council she was worried that recently installed yard drains would direct water toward private property and said contractors planned to pour concrete the following week without providing advance notice to tenants.
"I don't see how that is going to clear up the problem of the water and why that water was directed to our properties," the resident said, asking that the city notify affected occupants — including elderly tenants — before crews disrupt driveways.
Council members acknowledged the comment and moved through communications and agenda business. Separately, officials reminded residents that leaf-collection pickup for the season must be scheduled by contacting the code enforcement/zoning department by phone.
A council member proposed drafting a resolution in support of House Bill 58 — described at the meeting as a bill to create a recovery-housing resident certificate program requiring inspection and licensure of recovery homes — and volunteered to sponsor the resolution. "I'll sponsor that as well," the presiding official said; several members (Amy Hawk, Larry Pierce, Dan Brown among others) agreed to co-sponsor.
The council did not vote on the proposed resolution at this meeting; the item was presented as a proposed action and staff were asked to circulate the draft language to council members.
