The Scituate Town Council approved the police chief’s recommendation to hire lateral recruit Amadeo (Amadeo) Uchi Jr., who transferred from Warwick and was sworn in at the meeting. The chief described Uchi’s background — Warwick Police Academy graduate, college degree, and prior service — and invited him forward for a badge-pin ceremony.
During a short oath, Uchi pledged to uphold the constitutions and the rules and regulations of the Scituate Police Department. Council moved to approve the chief’s recommendation consistent with collective-bargaining terms with IBPO Local 502, and the council voted in favor by voice vote.
The hire was presented as a routine personnel action to fill a lateral vacancy; no further terms beyond the collective-bargaining-generated employment conditions were announced at the meeting.
