The Chautauqua County Human Services Committee approved a lease agreement with the City of Jamestown on Nov. 12 to relocate its homeless team and mobile crisis team to the third floor of Jamestown City Hall.
Carmela Hernandez, commissioner of mental hygiene and social services, said the co‑location is intended to improve continuity of care between mental hygiene and social services staff for residents experiencing homelessness or behavioral crisis. "This lease is for the 3rd Floor in City Hall where we will have our homeless team and our mobile crisis team co located, in the same location, and wanted to provide a better continuity of care," Hernandez said.
Trish McLennan, deputy director with mental hygiene and social services, told the committee the teams are relocating from Warwick, and that vacating the current space will relieve about $1,200 per month in rent for the county. Committee members asked procedural questions about timing and government operations; the measure passed unanimously.
The move is intended to streamline client handoffs between social services and crisis clinicians and make program operations more efficient.
