Parents, staff praise improvements at Ringing Rocks and urge continued board presence and discipline enforcement

Several parents, a teacher and board members spoke during the public comment period to describe recent improvements in student behavior at Ringing Rocks Elementary and to ask for continued attention from the board and administration.

Brianna Robinson, a teacher at Ringing Rocks, thanked board members for visiting the school and said visits are important "not only for identifying challenges, but also for seeing firsthand the dedication and professionalism that our teachers bring to their classrooms every single day." Laura McCorkle, a parent from Lower Pottsgrove, said district actions have led to "progress. Behaviors are decreasing in both severity and frequency and most staff and students are beginning to feel more comfortable at school." She asked the board to continue visits, ensure duty aides are trained so incidents are properly reported and documented, and to avoid relying on a single person’s perspective when assessing school conditions.

Parent Britney Connard reported that her son’s recess experience "has greatly improved" and called the current progress "cautiously optimistic." Robert Biggio, another parent, echoed that he has seen positive changes and asked the board to build conditions that sustain that progress when reviewing administration contracts and other decisions.

Superintendent Dr. Finney and board members had earlier discussed a Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) independent assessment that includes a stakeholder survey, individual interviews and a special education program assessment. The board encouraged staff, parents and community members to complete the stakeholder survey and to sign up for short individual interviews to amplify their perspectives.

Speakers at the meeting thanked Principal Stephanie Myers and school staff for their work, asked for continued use of the discipline code and for administrative support where staffing or caseloads are heavy.
