Valley County commissioners approved a conditional use permit for Pilgrim Cove Camp Oct. 29, allowing the camp to adopt a 25-year master plan that includes relocated RV parking, minor cabin relocations, a picnic pavilion and stormwater improvements.
Meredith, a county planner, told the commission the application restates the original 2002 CUP's operational limits (a stated summertime overnight maximum of 125 people and a wintertime maximum of 75) and adds design-review requirements for future structures. The McCall Area Joint Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval after applicants revised site details to reduce impacts on nearby property owners, including moving a proposed pavilion and RV spaces closer to the camp center.
The applicant, Marilee Munther, an attorney representing Pilgrim Cove Foundation, emphasized the camp's long history of use dating to the early 20th century and said its proposed changes are modest and do not increase the permitted number of users.
