Students honored for designing Passaic County "I Voted" stickers; Paterson Girl Goals winners chosen by peers

Passaic County commissioners recognized students from Paterson’s Girl Goals summer program on Oct. 28 whose artwork was selected for new county "I Voted" stickers.
Shona MacPolek, superintendent of elections, told the board that 35 girls in grades K–8 participated in an educational tour of the superintendent’s office this summer, designed sticker artwork in three age groups and then voted on winners using county voting machines. "It was such an enriching day, and we were truly honored to provide the girls with their first experience in a lifelong journey of civic engagement," MacPolek said.
The board called the students up to receive certificates signed by the board and county clerk Danielle Ireland Inhofe; a county photo was taken with the students, the superintendent and commissioners. Paterson Mayor Andre Sebel attended briefly and congratulated the students; he identified his daughter among the winners.
No formal board action was required; the recognition was ceremonial.
