Passaic County held a public hearing Oct. 28 to receive comment on plans to prequalify bidders for the exterior restoration of the Passaic County Courthouse Annex, historically known as the U.S. Customs House at 636 Hamilton St., Paterson.
County staff outlined the project scope, which includes cleaning, repair and restoration of masonry, selective demolition and temporary controls, replication of ironwork and fencing, membrane roof replacement, clock tower repair and modernization, exterior lighting and window replacement consistent with the project manual, plans and specifications. Director LaPore told the board the county had secured a $2,250,000 grant from the New Jersey Historic Trust that will fund a significant portion of the work.
The hearing record shows the public hearing was noticed in the Herald News on Oct. 5, 2025. After opening the hearing by motion and roll call, the board asked whether any members of the public wished to be heard; none did. A motion to close the public hearing passed by roll call.
No bid prequalification decisions were made at the hearing; staff will proceed with the procurement steps described in the project manual and return to the board as required by procurement rules.
