The Leawood Planning Commission unanimously approved a revised final development plan for an updated courtyard at the Johnson County Pioneer Library (Case PC 9825).
Staff described the project as a 3,102‑square‑foot courtyard renovation that will add three new seating alcoves, a 480‑square‑foot patio with a perforated shade structure, landscape beds and lighting; three existing trees will be removed and replaced per the tree‑replacement requirements. “This application does meet all requirements of the Leawood development ordinance, and staff is recommending approval of case 98 25 with the 13 stipulations listed in the report,” Planner Taylor Burt said.
The police department provided a memo with lighting recommendations; the applicant said the lighting beneath the shade structure will exceed the department’s guidelines and that no new exterior security concerns were identified. The commission approved the revised final plan without objection.
Signage that is relocated or newly sited will require a separate sign permit, staff said.
Vote: unanimous approval of PC 98‑25.
