Sussex County Council voted to expand the Western Sussex Unified Sanitary Sewer District to include Parcel 131‑15‑14 owned by Gulam Dasgar LLC, the council announced at its meeting.
County staff said the parcel at the westbound side of State Route 13 at Commercial Center Drive is adjacent to the existing Western Sussex sewer area, is in State Planning Level 1, and that the owner received a Bridgeville approval on April 16, 2024 for a 2,700‑square‑foot retail building. Staff said the project would be responsible for system connection charges in effect at the time of connection and that the engineering department posted legal notices on Oct. 6 and advertised in the two subsequent weeks. Staff also reported there was no correspondence in support or opposition before the hearing.
After the public hearing was closed, a council member moved to approve a resolution extending the district boundary. The motion was seconded, and the clerk recorded a roll‑call vote in which committee members voted in favor; the motion carried.
The council did not add conditions to the resolution at the meeting. County staff said the parcel will be required to follow standard connection and charge procedures when applying to annex into the sanitary sewer district.
