"In the past, we have done a type of notice to the public, like a notice of intent, that we had an x number available," said Edith (county staff). She noted the county ran similar notices in 2018 and 2019, and that those notices established a submission deadline to allow the board to consider all applications together rather than handle awards on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
When asked whether the state gives guidance on selecting among multiple applications, a commissioner replied, "No." Commissioners directed staff to prepare a notice of intent and add it to the next regular meeting agenda so the board can adopt a deadline-based process for evaluating applications.
No license award or selection criteria were adopted at the meeting; staff will return with a proposed notice and schedule.
