Grand County approves orders for three motor graders and new plow truck

Grand County commissioners on Oct. 28 authorized Road & Bridge to order three motor graders and to place an order for a 2026 plow truck, actions staff said are intended to replace aging fleet vehicles and improve winter operations.
Road and Bridge Supervisor Zach Bridal presented the proposals, saying the graders total $746,639.85 apiece after trade-ins and that the plow truck will be delivered in 2026 at a cost of $360,508.86. Commissioners approved motions to execute the purchase agreements and to authorize the chair to sign contract documents.
Bridal said the department expects improved reliability and a guaranteed buyback on the graders, and commissioners remarked that upgrading the plow fleet is long overdue. No member of the public spoke against the purchases during the meeting.
The contracts were approved as presented; staff said delivery timing varies by manufacturer lead time and that the county will finance installation of equipment and placement into service through existing capital budgets.
Commissioners directed staff to proceed with the orders and to return any contract amendments for review if terms change before final delivery.
