Palo Alto Parks & Recreation honors Commissioners Anne Cribbs and Jeff Greenfield for years of service

The Parks & Recreation Commission used a reordered agenda item on Oct. 28 to honor Commissioner Anne Cribbs and Vice Chair Jeff Greenfield as their terms came to an end.
Council liaison Julie Lythcott-Haines and Community Services Director Kristen O’Kane joined staff and members of the public in thanking both commissioners for long service and leadership on a range of parks and open-space issues. Speakers cited Cribbs’ advocacy for youth sports, recreation programs, increased swimming access and community fundraising; they noted Greenfield’s longtime involvement in open-space stewardship, trails, Baylands stewardship and balancing recreation and conservation.
More than a dozen public speakers offered appreciation, describing both commissioners as mentors, thoughtful analysts and hands-on volunteers. Staff presented signed cards and small gifts and thanked the commissioners for their institutional knowledge and support of staff during transitions.
Both commissioners delivered short farewell remarks thanking colleagues, staff and the community and encouraging continued collaboration on parks, open-space and recreation priorities.
