Saint Helena Historical Society lays out 150th anniversary program

Miriam Hanson of the Saint Helena Historical Society presented the society's plan for the city's 150th incorporation anniversary, outlining monthly topics and exhibits at the public library. Hanson said the first exhibit, about incorporation, is mounted at the library and future months will highlight wellness, Indigenous history, agriculture, wine industry history, a community celebration, a parade and a range of partner exhibits from local clubs and churches.
The society plans a January lecture on whether local houses qualify as historic resources, a fundraising event in March, an emphasis on agriculture in June and a community celebration in September, culminating in a parade and broader community recognition in October and December. Hanson encouraged residents to view the exhibits and participate in events.
Mayor Dohring thanked the society and offered to connect Hanson with a local agricultural-history researcher to support program content.
