Mount Shasta staff say West Landing developer negotiating price; master plan outreach to follow

“...they've been able to substantially, bring the seller down in price,” a staff member reported to council, adding that the work is preliminary and “it's not done until it's done.” The staff presentation described plans for a series of public meetings to collect input on proposed uses for specific West Landing parcels before formal planning‑commission and council review.
The staff presentation framed the outreach as an effort to build public support so that, when a formal planning application arrives, the city will have community input to help guide decisions. No formal approvals or contracts were presented to council at the meeting; staff said further steps will follow the public‑engagement phase.
Council asked staff to continue coordinating appraisal follow‑up and to include the planning commission in next steps. No motion or vote on land sale or zoning changes occurred at the meeting.
