The Leesburg Town Council on Oct. [date not specified] adopted a series of proclamations recognizing local businesses, volunteer medical responders and cultural observances.
Mayor Kelly Burke read proclamations honoring Bob and Lisa Cusack of Custom Software Systems for receiving the Trailblazer Strategic Connection Award as part of the HUBZone 25th-anniversary program; recognizing the Loudoun County Medical Reserve Corps for supporting first-aid and cooling services at town events; proclaiming October 2025 as Hindu Heritage Month; and recognizing National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The Cusacks told the council their firm, which does federal contracting and GovCon outreach from Leesburg, holds quarterly meetings that bring small businesses together and connects attendees with speakers from the Small Business Administration and related fields. “We just learned about our community,” Bob Cusack said, describing the company’s HUBZone-related work and local partnerships.
David Goodfriend of the Loudoun County Health Department described the Medical Reserve Corps’ role during the COVID-19 response and its ongoing work providing first aid at events, CPR and overdose-awareness training, and outbreak follow-up. He encouraged interested residents aged 16 and older to register at loudoun.gov/mrc.
Representatives of local Hindu community groups and youth organizations accepted the Hindu Heritage Month proclamation and spoke about Diwali and cultural programs. A local cultural instructor described her work teaching classical dance and the importance of passing cultural traditions to younger generations.
Candace Haney and other disability advocates accepted the National Disability Employment Awareness Month proclamation and highlighted employment and accommodation statistics discussed at the meeting, including that disability is common and that employment outcomes and accommodation needs vary widely.
All proclamations were adopted by voice vote.
