Gina Gonzales of the economic development department described the Business Spotlight program as a public nomination–based recognition that includes marketing materials, a newsletter feature and social-media promotion. Staff said Stadium Pizza, opened in its current form in 2017 with business roots dating to 1988, operates a 30-tap locker-room brewery and supports local nonprofits including Cups for Kids and Michelle’s Place Cancer Resource Center. The business also partners with schools through programs such as student pizza certificates and training for students and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
General manager Kyle Conrad and representatives of the owners accepted the recognition; councilmembers offered brief praise for the restaurant’s role in historic downtown revitalization.
No formal action or funding was associated with the recognition; it is a ceremonial program administered by the city’s economic development office.
