Council accepts Cory Park master plan after neighborhood input on native plantings and trails

The Oshkosh Common Council voted 4–0 Oct. 28 to accept the Cory Park master plan following presentations by Parks staff and discussion of native plantings, trail surfaces and field use.
Parks staff said the plan responds to neighborhood input that favored pollinator plantings, educational signage, and trails that allow people to walk through native areas. The city will use crushed‑gravel trails to reduce maintenance problems associated with cracking and heaving that can occur with concrete or asphalt on shifting ground. Council members asked whether local soccer groups had been consulted; staff said field conditions and an undulating surface had limited organized play and the neighborhood had supported native planting in portions of the site.
Council accepted the plan and asked staff to coordinate follow‑up with neighborhood groups and advisory panels about implementation details.
