School board approves roofing, modular classroom change orders and central freezer repair contracts

For the St. Stephen's Elementary mobile modular classroom project, the board approved two construction change directives (location services overage and reworking of a light pole) and a final change order that reduced the contract to $243,837.33 after credits. Westmoreland said the general contingency balance will be affected by the overages and credits discussed in the work session.
Child nutrition staff reported one of two central freezers is inoperable. The board authorized use of the TIPS-USA purchasing cooperative to contract with Curlin Way (Curlin Ray in the transcript) to remove the existing condenser and indoor evaporator, install new equipment at the same locations, and provide a one-year parts-and-labor warranty. The project cost is $106,664.51; Westmoreland said the district needs the freezer ready by January to accommodate a large incoming food shipment.
