Thomas Glenn opened public comment at the council's Oct. 28 meeting with a plea for action on what he described as recurring flight‑school noise from Rocky Mountain/Jefferson County Airport. Glenn said he documented a 10‑minute period on Oct. 8 (about 08:40-08:50 a.m.) with roughly 10 overflights that routed return flights over Lafayette toward the county airport.
Glenn said flight noise affects three schools in the flight path, wildlife including osprey and eagles, and people using open-space and recreational areas; he also cited a recent fatal crash in Erie during windier conditions and urged local leaders not to "let the subject fall off the radar" and to coordinate proactively with the FAA, Jefferson County and other agencies.
Council did not provide a response during public comment but the mayor noted members could raise the topic during council comments or ask staff to follow up after the meeting.
