Commissioners approve consent agenda and issue proclamations for hospice and caregivers

LEXINGTON, N.C. — The Davidson County Board of Commissioners approved the consent agenda Oct. 27, which included proclamations recognizing hospice and palliative care services and honoring family caregivers who support older adults in the community.
Laura Owen accepted a proclamation recognizing the 40th anniversary of local hospice services and thanked county officials for long-standing partnerships that support fragile individuals and local health services. “It’s 40 years we’re celebrating this year, and our ability to continue the services remain local community focused, not for profit is because of partnerships like yours,” Owen said.
Lisa Smith of Senior Services read a proclamation recognizing family caregivers and thanked the board for acknowledging care that allows people to remain in their homes longer. “This is just to recognize all the caregivers that take care of family members and loved ones at home, that are able to do so, which allows folks to stay in their homes longer,” Smith said.
The consent agenda passed by voice vote; the proclamations were presented to the honorees in the meeting chamber.
