County approves small rezoning in Cotton Grove to allow manufactured home

LEXINGTON, N.C. — The Davidson County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 27 approved a rezoning for roughly 0.74 acres in Cotton Grove Township to permit placement of a manufactured home, after the applicant said he sought the change to secure a more affordable dwelling on the property.
Tracy Lamb told the board he is seeking to place a “more affordable home on the property,” noting the previous stick-built house burned about two years ago and the parcel currently holds a residential storage building. “Basically, I'm just looking to, maybe get a more affordable home on the property,” Lamb said during the public hearing.
County planning staff said the property was originally zoned in 1990 and that the surrounding stretch includes a mix of site-built and manufactured homes; staff recommended approval, noting that the requested zoning (as listed on the agenda) would require a double-wide manufactured home with an appearance similar to neighboring dwellings.
After a motion and second and with no public opposition, the board adopted the rezoning with a statement of consistency. The meeting transcript records approval by voice vote; no roll-call tally of individual commissioner votes appears in the record.
