The Oregon City Planning Commission unanimously adopted its 2001 mission statement and a set of goals and objectives aimed at preserving community character, improving the urban environment and advancing sustainability.
The adopted mission statement says the commission will implement “a proactive and positive planning strategy that preserves and enhances community character and improves the quality of the city's urban environment.” The goals and objectives adopted included enhancing public knowledge and outreach (including pursuing planning resources and community events), promoting coordination with city boards and outside partners, inventorying and restoring natural resources (with emphasis on steep slopes, canyons and tree canopy), promoting multimodal transportation options and connectivity, and supporting efficient, environmentally sound development practices.
Commissioners approved the mission and goals by unanimous vote during the meeting’s old-business agenda items.
