Bangor plans November outreach to explain winter parking rules and towing risks

Councilor Fournier reported on winter-parking planning that staff discussed at a prior committee meeting. Steve Smith, acting director of public works, briefed the council earlier on the operational requirements when a parking ban is declared.
Fournier said the city will publish a press release and social-media content early in November, distribute information to the city opt-in listserv and re-run the notices when the first snowstorm approaches. "So what we're planning to do is early in November, do, a press release, put out a bunch of social media content, and also make several distributions to the opt in listserv that the city, hosts with information on all of those important topics in hopes that folks will know what to do and when once it starts snowing," Fournier said.
The outreach aims to make sure residents understand requirements during a parking ban and avoid costly towing and related consequences. No formal policy change was proposed; the item was an informational update on communications and enforcement procedures.
