TESD previews state assessment results; Conestoga AP scores remain strong

District assessment staff presented a summary of 2025 student assessments and advanced‑placement performance during the education committee report.
Mark Cataldi, director of assessment and accountability, explained that the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) moved to online testing for third, fifth and eighth grades this year and that statewide comparisons were delayed because the Pennsylvania Department of Education had not yet released statewide data. Individual student reports have been shared with families and teachers have reviewed individual and grade‑level results.
District materials highlighted the Keystone exams (algebra, biology and literature), with roughly 80% or more of taking students scoring at the proficient or advanced levels in those subjects. Conestoga High School’s AP program was presented as a separate summary: Conestoga students averaged 4.09 across AP exams, 95% of Conestoga students taking AP tests scored a 3 or better, and 1,060 Conestoga students took a total of 2,695 AP exams in 31 subjects this year.
Administrators said teachers and administrators identified focus areas based on this year’s results and are implementing strategies this school year to address weaknesses. The district will publish detailed assessment files and committee materials on the district website for public review.
