Dr. Wendy Toll, a district administrator, presented the calendar and described its primary components: a new‑teacher summer academy beginning Aug. 17, teachers returning Aug. 26 and students’ first day on Aug. 31; traditional observance of Labor Day and other holidays; fall and spring conference arrangements; and a tentative student last day of June 15 with teachers concluding June 17.
The calendar also retains the district’s emergency‑closing approach: the first five emergency days will be implemented as flexible instruction days (virtual learning through student devices), and any additional closures would be made up on the underlined calendar dates (June 16–18 and other listed make‑up days). Dr. Toll told the board the change moving spring parent conferences to March aims to give teachers more time to prepare substantive conference materials.
The board opened the item for public comment; no members of the public spoke on the calendar. After brief discussion the board chair called for a vote. The motion carried 8–0.
What this means: The approved calendar will be posted on the district website and used in district planning for the 2026–27 school year. Dates identified as make‑up days remain available should the district need them because of emergency closings.
