The Village of Depew Board of Trustees on Oct. 27 confirmed planning-board approvals that included a special-use permit for a cannabis dispensary at Transit Road Unit 6041 (Item 26061). The item was listed among planning-board minutes the board approved earlier in the meeting.
During public comment, a resident asked whether the village limits the number of cannabis retailers and whether the village benefits financially from dispensaries. Mayor Kevin J. Peterson and staff said proximity restrictions exist and that the village—s single existing dispensary, Herbal IQ, generated more than $260,000 in local receipts last year; trustees and staff also said police had experienced very few problems related to cannabis retail operations.
Trustees recorded unanimous roll-call votes for the planning approvals and the board carried the planning consent items as presented.
