Depew approves CDBG submissions for sidewalks and playground improvements

The Village of Depew Board of Trustees on Oct. 27 authorized the mayor to sign two 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) subrecipient agreements for neighborhood infrastructure projects.
On the Cheektowaga side, the village seeks sidewalk improvements on Leech Street (Transit to Howard) and funds to support senior-center expenses. On the Lancaster side, the village applied for a playground-improvement project at the small pocket park on South James Street and requested the program—s maximum amount of $150,000; the project will be administered through Erie County if approved.
Trustees voted unanimously to authorize the mayor to sign both subrecipient agreements. The administrator said the village has had success with similar CDBG submissions over the past several years and will submit contracts for approval and coordination with Erie County.
