Board approves OHSU home‑visiting amendment and two tobacco‑prevention awards totaling $120,000

Klamath County Public Health presented several grant agreements for board approval on Oct. 28. Staff brought Amendment 1 to Agreement 1029202 with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), which funds home‑visiting services under the Maternal Child Health program; staff said the amended period of performance extends through Sept. 30, 2026.
In a separate but related action, Public Health awarded two Tobacco Prevention and Education Program (TPEP) grants to local organizations selected through a request-for-applications process. The board approved an award to Citizens for Safe Schools for $75,000 to support prevention and cessation work paid from Health Promotion subdepartment 4049 and an award to Oregon Spinal Cord Injury Connection for $45,000; both agreements were authorized for the department head to sign.
Public Health said the OHSU amendment will increase grant revenue to support nurse home‑visiting services and that the tobacco-prevention agreements will fund community-based prevention and cessation projects.
