Woodford County adopts veterans license-plate program, American Legion seeds initial plates

Woodford County on Wednesday approved a resolution to create a veterans license-plate program that will provide eligible county veterans with commemorative plates at no charge.
The resolution, identified in the meeting as "resolution 2025-10," passed unanimously after the county clerk described operational and transparency safeguards. The clerk said the county clerk's office will administer the program and record transactions for auditing.
The program is being launched in partnership with the Woodford County Veterans Commission and Woodford County American Legion Post 67. The county clerk said the American Legion provided $2,000 as seed funding to start the effort, and the Veterans Commission has budgeted funds to cover half of the expense thereafter.
Madam Clerk told the court, "my office can gift any and every veteran who comes into my office who lives here in Woodford County a veteran's license plate at no charge." The judge and magistrates thanked the clerk and the American Legion for their roles in initiating the program.
Action taken: The judge moved adoption of the resolution, a court member seconded, and members voted "aye." The judge stated the motion carried unanimously.
Ending: The clerk said the program would be available in time for Veterans Day and staff will follow the transparency provisions set out in the resolution.
