Baltimore County Board of Appeals unanimously grants variance for 2718 Woodcourt Road addition

A board member who participated in the deliberation said the property "is uniquely oriented and affected differently by the zoning regulations from other properties in the immediate area and in the zone," and argued that strict compliance would force the addition to be sited further back on the lot and "create a huge impervious area," making concentrated construction closer to the existing footprint preferable. The same board member also said, "I believe we should approve the, the administrative variance here," and noted it was their first time considering an administrative variance and that the application process can leave homeowners with little guidance on what to present.
Board member Paul Shaw concurred during deliberations, saying, "I feel exactly the same way," and praised the record supporting the variance.
The board asked the petitioners to submit a proposed order to the board to shorten the time to finalize the decision; Gina LaFiandra said she would submit the order. With no further discussion, the board concluded deliberations and recorded the unanimous grant of the variance.
