The Douglas County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted Oct. 28 to induct Castle Pines Golf Club, host of the 2024 BMW Championship, into the Douglas County Hall of Fame.
Commissioner Van Winkle said the tournament "raised a record $10,200,000 for the Evans Scholars Foundation," drew an estimated 138,000 spectators and helped draw national attention to Douglas County. He recommended the induction in recognition of the events economic and community impact.
Duffy Solich, general chairman of the 2024 BMW Championship and a Castle Pines resident, told commissioners the tournament was a "success by every measure," noting partnerships with county staff and the PGA Tour. Solich said the event drew about 2,400 volunteers from 37 states and four countries and helped raise money for the Evans Scholars Program, which provides college scholarships for qualifying caddies. "We proudly raised over $10,200,000 for the Evans Scholars Program," Solich said.
Mike McAdams ("Mac"), chief financial officer for Castle Pines, and Dwight Dikershaus, the clubs general manager, thanked the board and emphasized the countys role in permitting and operational coordination. Chair (Board of County Commissioners) and other commissioners praised county staff and the Douglas County Sheriffs Office for logistics and public-safety support during the event.
When asked whether the PGA Tour might return, Solich said the existing BMW championship contract runs through 2027 and that discussions about an extension were ongoing. The board approved the induction by unanimous voice vote and presented a certificate and lapel pins to club representatives.
Background details provided during the ceremony included the nonprofit fundraising total cited above and an estimate by one commissioner that the week-long event produced roughly $30 million in local economic activity across hotels, restaurants and other services. That economic figure was stated by the commissioner during remarks and described as an estimate, not an audited number.
The board closed the item after a ceremonial presentation and photographs.
