Methacton recognizes staff, volunteers and athletes; field hockey advances to states

The board opened Oct. 28 by honoring Spirit of Methacton award winners from Woodland Elementary and recognizing achievements by the girls golf, tennis and field hockey teams, including the field hockey team advancing to state competition.
The Methacton School District began its Oct. 28 meeting with a series of recognitions for staff, volunteers and students.
Principal Hasson of Woodland Elementary presented Spirit of Methacton awards to teachers and staff including reading specialist Julie Tyson, learning support teacher Kim Fogg, instructional assistants Paula Bauer and Robin Sherd, and community volunteers Art Nigro and Margie McHugh. Two fourth‑grade students, Annalise Lars and Weston Gallagher, also received Spirit awards for demonstrated kindness, leadership and academic engagement.
Athletic director Taylor Parker introduced coaches and teams that won PAC championships. Coach Barbie Griffith described the girls golf team’s 8–2 season and noted six golfers qualified for the individual pack championship and several advanced to district competition. Coach Val recognized Chelsea Lianne as the PAC singles tennis champion and noted she did not drop any games in PAC league play.
Coach Amanda Perazzi introduced the field hockey team, announcing the team’s record at the time (18–3–2) and that the team qualified for states; individual milestones were noted including Maddie McKinney’s 400th career save and Leah Duane as the team assists leader. The board offered public congratulations and allowed early dismissal for attendees after the recognitions.
