Clerk reports 18,000 absentee ballots issued; early in-person voting strong in Boise and Star

The Ada County Clerk's Office told the board on Oct. 28 that it has issued just over 18,000 absentee ballots and received about 7,700 of those back. The clerk’s office also reported more than 6,500 in-person early votes cast to date.
Clerk's staff said turnout is strongest in Boise and Star, which staff attributed in part to local contested races and a Star fire-levy measure. The office said voters who did not request an absentee ballot may still vote in person at early voting sites or at their precinct on election day. The office noted that it has expanded early voting locations and that one permanent site (found to be popular) will remain available going forward.
Staff invited members of the public to attend the logic-and-accuracy (L&A) test scheduled for Thursday, which is part of pre-election verification, and reminded the board that the county has opted for a two-week early-voting window for this election.
A clerk’s office spokesperson said the department looks forward to executing the election in its new space and encouraged public attendance at L&A testing where appropriate.
