Council calls April 14, 2026 municipal election; approves vendor agreements for ballot services

At the meeting the City Council adopted resolutions setting the city's April 14, 2026 general municipal election calendar and approving related professional-services agreements for ballot production, tabulation and signature-verification services.
City clerk Andrea summarized the staff report and recommended agreements for: Hart InterCivic (tabulation software, equipment and services); Provote (ballot production and mail services); and an agreement to procure signature-verification services and related software support (a services arrangement noted with a partner jurisdiction). Staff also reviewed candidate deadlines and the nomination window: nomination packets are available beginning Dec. 22, 2025 and the filing deadline is Jan. 16, 2026 at 5 p.m. (standard five-day extensions apply in specified circumstances).
A council member moved to adopt the resolutions and approve the vendor agreements; the motion carried on a 4-0 vote. The clerk was directed to coordinate with the county for election services, provide candidate information to prospective filers and finalize agreements required for an all-mail ballot election.
