Bristol to recheck Aiden's Pub after police log shows 19 calls in three months

The Town of Bristol Council on Oct. 22 required Aiden's Pub to meet with police and scheduled a follow-up three-month review after police records showed 19 calls or complaints about the establishment over the review period.

Police said their records showed 19 incidents: one unfounded, 13 noise complaints, three incidents of patrons leaving the establishment and being noisy, seven reports of loud music, two incidents involving staff handling trash, and several disturbances that officers investigated and dispersed. The police recommended a meeting between the business and police to develop proactive measures to reduce complaints.

Michael Cocroft, identified as the pub's general manager, told the council the business has increased security and would continue working with officers and neighbors. He acknowledged higher costs of additional security and said he would speak further with owners about operational changes.

Councilors expressed concern that 19 calls in three months was substantially higher than recent reviews for other establishments and urged corrective action. Councilor Tony moved and Councilor Aaron seconded a motion to require a meeting with the police department and to return for another three-month review. The motion passed by voice vote.

Councilors warned that if problems continue, the council could schedule a show-cause hearing. The council did not impose fines or suspend the license at this meeting; it set the next review and directed staff to document the meetings with police and the licensee.
